Kamal is a voice of clarity on the contradictions of our planet's boundaries with the workings of our present economic system. She pointed me in all the right directions and helped shape fresh narratives for positive change. She's a warm, accessible and deeply knowledgeable climate educator - just what the world needs on the topic of our time!

The Learning for Action course developed by Kamal for Terra.do was a pivotal experience for me in my own climate journey. The course gave me the holistic mental model of the climate landscape that I needed to understand the many aspects of the climate challenge, the many possible solutions, and how these all fit together. I went from seeing climate change as an overwhelming complex problem (which it is) to instead feeling empowered by the many possible ways I could be part of the ecosystem.

Normal text.
Kamal’s teaching grounded me in the science of climate while still touching a bit of everything, giving me a powerful foundation to jump into a climate career. Her clean energy module and “electrify everything” chapter sparked my own exploration into distributed solar and ultimately led me to start Bright Saver, which has already helped pass a state law enabling more accessible and affordable plug-in solar technology.

Kevin Chou

Founder and Executive Director, Bright Saver
20 years former tech CEO
UC Berkeley Board of Trustees
San Francisco Bay Area, United States

An experienced educator and energy transition expert, Kamal has the rare ability to identify knowledge gaps and design upskilling pathways for professionals pivoting into the energy transition space. She designed the Learning for Action coursework at Terra.do, which offered a comprehensive overview of the transition — from technology to climate communication— which helped me apply my technical problem-solving skills to complex systems-level challenges. Kamal brings integrity and a genuine coaching mindset to her work - she took the time to understand my goals and offered thoughtful guidance.

What differentiated Kamal's teaching from other climate education I've encountered is her commitment to "learning by doing." She didn't just teach climate content; she structured experiences where we had to apply systems thinking, grapple with trade-offs & locate our own capacities for action. That principle...which she embodies through her own career journey from solar installation to research to education and showed me that expertise is built through genuine engagement, not passive consumption.

His willingness to recognize and elevate others’ knowledge created an environment where we all felt safe to explore, question, and learn from each other without judgment. Through his facilitation, our sessions became spaces for diverse thoughts, opinions, and possibilities to flourish. Anders has a rare gift for creating and enabling beautiful, inclusive communities where every voice matters. The learning and perspectives I gained through Anders continue to inform my work in climate investing.
